In their effort to develop grassroots cricket in Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association in association with the Kent Cricket Club has introduced cricket to the Kono District, Eastern part of Sierra Leone for the very first time.
The coaching clinic which was led by Joseph Pessima, Head of Coaching and Community Cricket, Kent Cricket Club was done in two schools, "Kono District Educational Primary School" and "Municipal Secondary School" Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District.
Joseph ran a series of basic cricket activities with over 200 boys and girls from the two schools and further trained five PE Teachers in the diamond rich area. Each one of the children that participated has a story and it makes intriguing content.
Joseph said; "I was well proud to be back in my place of birth and it was wonderful to see many children showing keen interest to a game they only finding out about for the first time. Thanks to the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Beresford Bournse Coker and the Kent Cricket Club CEO, Emmanuel Pessima for sponsoring my trip".
